History
Concrete Services has formally existed since 1999. However, its
foundations go much deeper and can be traced to 1957, when the
general contracting firm of Harbison-Mahony-Higgins Builders (HMH
Builders) was founded. Whenever there was concrete work to be done
on one of their projects, HMH Builders performed it with their own
carpenters, laborers, and cement masons.
Then one day, an enterprising young laborer came forward with an
idea. He saw the concrete equipment sitting idle between jobs, and
the labor expertise scattered back to the field at various jobsites
doing other work, and thought there was a better use of these
resources. He suggested pulling all the resources into an
organization that marketed its expertise to other companies – other
general contractors, construction management firms, public entities,
and end users. From this, Concrete Services evolved.
Established as a division of HMH Builders, Concrete Services is a
distinct entity with an A and C-8 contractor’s license. Within its first
year, Concrete Services completed 34 projects with revenue which is
just short of $1 million. Ten years later, the revenue has grown to
average $20 million annually, and the client base has expanded to
include large and small general contractors throughout the region.
By concentrating on leveraging its expertise and high quality
craftsmanship while continuously learning about advances in the
industry, Concrete Services provides state-of-the-art services in
concrete construction.
